The plains of the river Criş can be divided into: high plain and low plain. The village Biharia is situated on the high plain. The high plain is the result of sedimentation and erosion. It is slightly slanting from east to west. The climate of the range is temperate continental with oceanic influences. According to the results of many years of monitoring, the annual average temperature is 10,3 º C. The meteoric precipitations are characterized by diversity, and due to the geographical location have oceanic influences. The annual average precipitation is 560 mm . The vegetation is mostly characteristic to plains and hills. Deciduous forests can be found sporadically. There are many protected species to be found in the flora, as well as in the fauna. The settlement could come into existence due to the very favourable natural terms. The settlement itself is laying on the meeting-point of the hill with the plain. The hills lying towards north are excellent soil for vineries. The region is supplied with water by the springs streaming from the hill, the Cosmo creek, and the branch of the river Criş called Crişul Mic (“Little Criş”). The main occupation of the inhabitants is farming and gardening.

Cauaceu

This village belonging to village Biharia is located on the eastern part of the Cosmo creek. It is situated north east from Oradea , on the so-called highland that lies between the őrhegy and Nagyhegyalja. It is the most extreme tower of the Hegyköz region. The first part of its Hungarian name (Hegyközkovácsi) comes from this location. However, the name Cauaceu comes from its historical position, and not by its geographical one. From administrative point of view Cauaceu still belongs to Biharia, just as a thousand years ago. This settlement was established by the existence of the castle of Biharia. The settler forgers made the smith's works of the castle of Biharia and the episcopate (forger in Hungarian means “ kovács ”, and the Hungarian name of Cauaceu is Hegyköz kovács i). The one and a half km distance between Biharia and Cauaceu nowadays can still be considered being a short one. Cauaceu almost can be taken as a suburb, a “daughter-village” of Biharia. Cauaceu has always belonged to diocese of Biharia, since King Stephen has organized the church. From administrative point of view it has also always belonged to Bihor County and it has always lying on the Territory of Bihor County. Considering accessibility, it has also a favourable position. Even in the period of Hungarian state-establishment, it was situated near the important military road reaching the castle of Biharia , and it is still situated along the roads to Satu Mare and Marghita. The Oradea - Sălard - Marghita - Şimleul Silvaniei highway intercepts the village. There is no train station in the village; there has never been one. North from Cauaceu there was a great manorial forest, which unfortunately after the secularisation has been rarefied. The boondocks from the north of Cauaceu have also been abolished, even because of the communist urbanisation. Its memory still lives in people's hearts and in the names of their lands.
